Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club and the Australian Wētā Class Association (AWCA) invite you to the 2025-26 Australian Wētā Nationals.

GLYC is situated in the heart of Paynesville on the shores of Lake Victoria, part of the Gippsland Lakes. The Lakes is the largest navigable inland waterway in Australia and has a reputation for fantastic flat-water sailing. Just 3.5 hours from Melbourne on the south-east coast of Victoria, separated from Bass Strait by the 90 Mile Beach land barrier it enjoys steady prevailing winds of 10-14kn SSE in January.

**  Further information, Entries and Race Documents will be provided later in 2025! **

Clarification on dates! We announced at Speers Pt that the Nationals dates will run from 29/12/25 to 04/01/26. GLYC subsequently asked for the competition to wrap up on Saturday 03/01/26 to allow their volunteers a day off (and we've agreed). Quite a few people had already booked accommodation on the basis that Sunday 4th Jan is a race day, so we are working out a plan for a one-off trophy race day - the Koala Klassic! Early plans are for a social stern-chaser on Lake Victoria with off-the-beach Le Mans start. If this sounds interesting to you, make sure you stick around for 04/01/26 and join the fun! We will publish full program as soon as it's nailed down.

Paynesville is a holiday destination and can be busy over the Christmas / New Year period. We encourage you to have a look for acccommodation sooner rather than later. Some options are available here:

There is also accommodation options in the local area, such as Bairnsdale, which is about 20 minutes drive from Paynesville.
